Reaching the superscattering regime with BIC physics

چکیده
Abstract We uncover a novel mechanism of superscattering from subwavelength resonators linked to the physics bound states in continuum (BICs). Enhanced scattering occurs due constructive interference within Friedrich-Wintgen interfering resonances. Through this process, cross section single resonance can exceed currently established limit. develop general non-Hermitian model describe resonances quasi-normal modes, and study dielectric nonspherical exhibiting avoided crossing quasi-BIC states. Our results reveal systems suggesting important applications for metadevices.

Noncommutative Regime of Fundamental Physics
We further develop a model unifying general relativity with quantum mechanics proposed in our earlier papers (J. Math. Phys. 38, 5840 (1998); 41, 5168 (2000)). The model is based on a noncommutative algebra A defined on a groupoid Γ = E × G where E is the total space of a fibre bundle over space-time and G a Lie group acting on E. In this paper, the algebra A is defined in such a way that the m...
متن کاملGeometric BIC
The author introduced the “geometric AIC” and the “geometric MDL” as model selection criteria for geometric fitting problems. These correspond to Akaike’s “AIC” and Rissanen’s “BIC”, respectively, well known in the statistical estimation framework. Another criterion well known is Schwarz’ “BIC”, but its counterpart for geometric fitting has been unknown. This paper introduces the corresponding ...
متن کاملTunable deep-subwavelength superscattering using graphene monolayers.
In this Letter, we theoretically propose for the first time that graphene monolayers can be used for superscatterer designs. We show that the scattering cross-section of the bare deep-subwavelength dielectric cylinder is markedly enhanced by six orders of magnitude due to the excitation of the first-order resonance of graphene plamons. By utilizing the tunability of the plasmonic resonance thro...
متن کاملFrom Fano-like Interference to Superscattering with Single Metallic Nanodisk
Superscattering was theoretically proposed to significantly enhance the scattering cross section of a subwavelength nanostructure, far exceeding its single-resonance limit by employing resonances of multiple plasmonic modes. By numerical simulation, we design a subwavelength nanodisk as a simple candidate to achieve superscattering. Due to the phase retardation, the subradiant mode can be excit...
متن کاملSuperscattering of light from subwavelength nanostructures.
We provide a theoretical discussion of the scattering cross section of individual subwavelength structures. We show that, in principle, an arbitrarily large total cross section can be achieved, provided that one maximizes contributions from a sufficiently large number of channels. As a numerical demonstration, we present a subwavelength nanorod with a plasmonic-dielectric-plasmonic layer struct...
